Bayliss pleased as Barrow AFC bag five against Morecambe

DESPITE his side’s 5-0 drubbing of Bay rivals Morecambe at Holker Street last night, Dave Bayliss insists results aren’t important in pre-season.

But the Bluebirds co-chief was delighted with AFC’s performance against the League Two outfit, including that of trialist goalkeeper James McKeown of Peterborough United.

Said Bayliss: “I thought it was a really good performance. You don’t look too much into results, it was more the manner in which we got the result tonight.

“As a group, even the subs who came on worked their socks off, and I think the most pleasing thing about it was we never let up. Even when it was approaching the 90th minute the lads were still closing down, and that’s what we ask for.”

On keeper McKeown he added: “We got recommended him by a friend of ours who works down south.

“He comes from a high recommendation from Darren Ferguson at Preston North End, who had him when he was at Peterborough. He’s contracted to Peterborough for the next two years and he’s very well thought of.

“He is a keeper, along with a couple of others, that we’re having a look at, and we’re not going to lose anything by having a look at him in a couple of games.”

Have your say

The caption "Happy" doesn't quite match the image. You must have a snap of Dave smiling somewhere!
