FAMILIES soaked up the sun and the fun at a school’s May fayre.
Maypole dancing and all the traditional fete activities took place at Low Furness CE Primary School, in Great Urswick, on Saturday.
The visitors enjoyed donkey rides, a bouncy castle, face painting, magic tricks and craft stalls on the school field.
Favourites such as splat the rat and welly wanging were also popular events.
The pupils were excited when school staff, including acting headteacher Matthew Jessop, took to the stocks for a soaking with wet sponges.
The school fund-raising event, organised by The Friends of Low Furness CE Primary School, raised around £900.
The school is planning to spend the money on benches and other outdoor furniture, and future activities for the pupils.
Libby Norton, a higher level teaching assistant at the school and committee member for The Friends of Low Furness CE Primary School, said: “We had a really good day and we think we have raised around £900, which is fantastic.
“We made about £100 on the stocks, there was a rush to the stocks.
“The weather was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. It was a great family day.
“There were lots of pupils, ex pupils and the community.”
