Magnificent Askam brush all aside to clinch Chorley Festival triumph

THE all-conquering Askam RL under-12s team took their Cumbrian form on the road to Lancashire at the Chorley Panthers 2010 Festival.
The Fallowfield Park side played five games at the tournament, beating hosts Chorley Panthers, plus Hindley, Woolston Rovers, Blackbrook and Leyland Warriors.
The Cumbria Cup winners were in supreme form during their victories, scoring 24 tries and conceding only one as they went on to claim the trophy.
The silverware will be added to the overflowing trophy cabinet at Askam, which also contains the Furness Coaching Association League trophy, the KO Cup and the Cumbria Cup.
For nine of the players involved for Askam at the tournament, this was perfect preparation as they gear up for a trip to Wembley next month.
They will be part of the Dowdales Year 8 side playing in the National Schools Cup final as a curtain-raiser to the Challenge Cup final, in front of tens of thousands of spectators at the national stadium.
