Park leave the Abbey in ruins

WOMEN’S BOWLS
WALNEY Park enjoyed a big win at Abbey in the Furness and District Women’s Bowling League.
The Islanders won the match 9-2, their two losses being to one and two-point margins, with all but one of the other matches going into double figures.
Dalton Cricket Club lost by the same score to Glaxo, but were unlucky not to get two more points as both Margaret Park and Shirley Haythorn lost to 20.
King Alfred A beat Walney Park A 10-1 and Barrow Island beat Co-op A 8-3, May Slater, Jean Postlethwaite and Jackie Fogarty showing good form for their respective teams.
West Mount beat Askam A 7-4. The only team to win away from home were Roose A, who beat Park North 10-2.
Biggar Bank only lost one game at home to Red River, that one going to Sheila McCormick 21-12. Kirkby won their game against Hawcoat Park A 9-2.
